Summer School for Wound Management 2016
A success story.
The first IHM Summer School for Wound Management in cooperation with the University of Graz and sponsored by Lohmann & Rauscher took place from July 25th to July 29th was a big success. 25 participants from more than 10 different countries took place at this first trial of a summer school.
Our Wound Management Course is designed to provide participants with the best practices in wound care, the science behind wound healing, and the most current standards of practice. A mixture of lectures and bedside teaching will be organized every day. The target audience is composed of different age groups to promote discussions and interactions between younger and more senior colleagues.
The summer school was about 5 days including clinical lectures, interactive case reports, e-learning courses, bedside teaching and hands-on workshops given by local and regional teachers and scientists.
The Course Curriculum included
• Physiology of wound healing
• Wound assessment and wound documentation
• Principles of wound management
• Evidence Based Wound Care
• Debridement (surgical and non-surgical)
• Legal aspects and standards, quality- and risk management
Speakers and instructors were most experienced doctors and scientists from the medical University of Graz.
Every participant of the IHM International Summer School, who were doctors, nurses and others, who work in field of wound care, received upon successful completion of the course, an official certificate from IHM and the University of Graz.
As of the big success of the first IHM Summer School for Wound Management, the next event is scheduled already.
